Aug 14,  · On the liner notes of this album George Russell describes the music as "a view of the entire musical scene of today, synthesizing elements of pop, rock, avant-garde jazz and neo-classic 'new music'". "Event II" appears close to the "Bitches Brew" sound (the album that is usually placed in the foundations of the jazz fusion style), with a preeminent and repetitive bass line/5(26).

  3. Another aspect of Bill Evans (acoustic & electric pianos) with George Russell and his orchestra. I have the LP, but have become crotchety about noise and dust on my 33 1/3 rpm disc, especially when a Discwasher seems to generate enough static electricity in the winter months to render itself counter productive. Some great grooves, such as Event /5(2).

  5. Pianist Bill Evans' second and final Columbia album was a rematch of sorts with composer-arranger George Russell; Evans had been on a couple of Russell's more significant albums of the late '50s. The music on this set unfortunately is not all that interesting. Russell's lengthy and episodic work "Living Time" (which has eight "events") features crowded ensembles as played by Evans' trio plus.
